Grounding
on: May 20, 2012, 15:59

Hi all. I have a B7 coming for my Les Paul '57 reissue goldtop. If I am correct, the guitar is grounded at the tailpiece bushings. I didn't see anything in the online instructions about grounding, so I was wondering what the standard procedure was here.

Thanks!

Hi! I came here looking for an answer to this very question … But … as I haven't seen one, I'd like to propose the following idea:

If you take a simple magnet (refrigerator magnet..?), you'll notice that the rod / bar / shaft to which the strings attach, conducts … So … my idea is to snake an extension that has been soldered onto the end of the ground wire, all the way out of the post cavity and try to attach it somehow to that bar (wind it around the bar and loop it onto one of the string posts on the rod..?

I'd be interested in finding out from the community here, whether that idea sounds GREAT ..? Or whether I'm way off base on this ..?

Thanks in advance!! daddy0h

p.s. I forgot to mention that I have already relocated the ground connection from the bridge post stud to the tail piece post stud because the bridge is a Graph Tech Ghost, which is non-conductive
