Guitar Strap Changes Tuning
on: June 18, 2011, 17:01

I recently installed a B-7 on my Les Paul Studio w/ the Vibramate.

I set it up and had it working and in tune. Then I put on the guitar strap, stood up and

this caused the strings to tighten and put me out of tune.

The Strap pin (or whatever that's called, that screws into the guitar) does not really match

the diameter of the slot in the tailpiece of the Bigsby. Any suggestions? Should I try a washer or some sort?

Is this common?

Thanks for any advise/help!

Hi there,

It certainly isn't common or correct to have the weight of the guitar held by the strap moving the vibrato. The first thing I would check is whether or not the strap screw (button) is loose or stripped. If so, I would either fill the hole and re-drill, or use a larger screw. Let us know how it turns out.

Good luck!
